NJCPA Four-Year Accounting Scholarships

With an accounting background, Brain Donahue, CPA, has industry experience that spans more than three decades. In his current duties, he acts as managing partner at Donahue & Kremer LLC where he deals with tax and auditing services. To stay up to date as a CPA, Brain Donahue also maintains membership with the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants.

The New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA) is the largest professional body that brings together more than 14,000 Garden State CPAs and aspiring CPAs. NJCPA membership consists of CPA professionals in government, business, public practice, and education.

NJCPA has various scholarship programs including the NJCPA four-year scholarships worth $7,000 each, which are given to New Jersey high school seniors intending to join college to pursue a major in accounting or high school seniors planning to pursue a concentration in accounting of not less than 24 accounting credits. The criteria for awarding these scholarships depends on academic performance, an essay interview, standardized test scores, and a personal interview.

To be eligible, applicants must have attained a cumulative GPA score of 3.5 or above, minimum composite ACT score of 26, or a total SAT score of 1260. Applications should be from a US citizen or a permanent resident in New Jersey. Applications should be accompanied by a letter of intent, signed by the student and their parents or legal guardians.

Drawing upon four decades of accounting experience, Brian Donahue, CPA, is a managing partner at Donahue & Kremer, LLC, in Monmouth Beach, New Jersey. Skilled in income tax preparation, performance table calculations, and SEC reporting, Brian Donahue, CPA, provides comprehensive auditing services for privately held companies with an emphasis on commodity pools and introducing brokers. He also assists individuals with various tax services.

Prior to establishing the firm in 1998, Mr. Donahue served as a controller at American Futures Group, Inc. for five years. He also developed internal controls and regulatory reporting standards as a controller at MBF Clearing Corp., Elders Futures, Inc., and Bruggemann Energy, Inc. He has additional experience in the financial services sector as a compliance auditor at the New York Mercantile Exchange and as a staff auditor at Price, Waterhouse & Co.

Mr. Donahue is a member of the New Jersey Society of CPAs, and also holds licenses in New York and North Carolina. An alumnus of Christian Brothers Academy, he earned a bachelor's in accounting from Lehigh University in 1979.
